Idea + Intent
Start with the SPARK. Identify the muse. Then answer: How will the story end?
Now set it free.
-

Circle the square.
Once we remove the element of time, and acknowledge its manufacturing: We are fluid in the moment to create without a consumable result.
-

Square the circle.
Now that the energy of the system has been balanced with a curve, we rebuild the container with a new architecture in place to define it with purpose in place.
-

Clock it.
When the spark can be stamped as anonymous, within the archive of intent, it will be scheduled for release.

In a universe saturated by exposure, this is the antidote to artificially generated art.

This is the incubator. Ideas are shared, poems are written, campaigns are tested, eyes are sharpened, pencils lack erasers and books are tossed into the bonfire. For vanity sake.

A Film + Television Production Designer based in New York and Los Angeles, ANDREW SLOANE ascended the ranks of Hollywood's art departments on an Emmy Award-nominated or-winning television series for a decade, consecutively. Credits include HBO’s Succession, Insecure, Silicon Valley, Rap Sh!t, and countless others. Andrew’s work has been shaped by long collaboration, restraint, and an enduring belief that environments tell stories long after dialogue fades.
This spring, we will reveal Andrew’s transition into feature films, both independent and studio produced; a substack journal authored by Andrew himself, as well as a relaunch of andrewsloane.com as AMS. The moniker, sited in long form as ‘anonymous,’ denotes works that have undergone creative direction through Andrews instruction by a team of apprentice participants from the central NY region. Any such works that link direct to CANVA, are contemporaneously in process by Andrew’s own hand to be observed in real time.
The aim is analogous to that of his residential and commercial design brand—a practice rooted in authorship, restoration, and place. Visitors to andrewsloane.com, SLOANEHOME, and the substack; may RSVP to receive periodic notes and links to a diary of work and life, past and present, including an intimate view into the restoration of a rare Gothic Revival interior—one of the last of its kind—whose quiet gravity called the designer home.
Thearcadian.org exists as a separate archive: a slower register for memory, process, and continuity. Where as andrewsloane.com documents the visible work, The Arcadian preserves the conditions that allow it to endure. AMS is more than a call for anonymity but also a landing page that bares the mark of a middle initial. Buried within, is a secondary, ‘open-secret.’ Access is granted to members from Sloane’s previous East Coast network free of charge with one caveat: they must utilize his middle name for sign in. Syracuse University students in his emerging SU ambassadorship, Arcadiasylum and that of his Ateles compass holders are granted access in tiers.
That process is documented, integrated, archived and stamped as a ‘memoir’ within thearcadian.org. Together, we will craft AMS and TheArcadian into a name worthy of placing next to your own. All proceeds to benefit an NFPO currently being perused through multiple channels in Arcadia New York, including the Historical Societies, Libraries and Institutions across the region.
After 6 years without posting a single written update on social platforms, beyond his ‘looking glass’ style instagram feed; this is Andrew M Sloane’s invitation to engage.
